Gameplay

Creating Your Sim

Sims can be created by choosing gender (male or female), skin color (light, medium, or dark) and age group (child or adult). Their appearance is chosen from a set of premade faces and bodies. Personality is created with a points system, divided amongst categories of Neat, Outgoing, Active, Playful, and Nice. Babies born within game age up to children after three days, but otherwise Sims do not age.

Building A Home

In the original game, there is a single neighborhood for your Sims to live in. There are a number of pre-built houses to choose from, and some empty lots for you to build on from scratch. Other neighborhoods and sub-neighborhoods were added with expansion packs.

Living

Sims have some artificial intelligence and free will, but are not completely autonomous and will have to be guided to do such things as look for jobs and pay bills.

Your Sims have needs that need to be met: Hunger, Social, Fun, Comfort, Hygiene, Bladder, Room, and Energy. They will autonomously attempt to take care of these needs once they get low (cook dinner, use the restroom, clean up trash) but need to be provided the items to do so. If they become dirty and there is no shower or bath in their home, they will sniff themselves and wave to the player for help!
